Tutorial: Chained Cast On

This cast on is simple to work and is a great choice if you want your cast on to look the same as your cast off. I used this in my Snow in the Mirror Cowl design.

Step 1

Make a slip knot (leaving a short tail) and place the loop on the crochet hook.
Holding the crochet hook in your dominant hand and the knitting needle in your other hand move the working yarn behind your needle.

Step 2

Pull the yarn with the hook over the needle...

Step 3

...and through the loop on your hook. You made one stitch.

Step 4

Bring the yarn behind the needle again.

Step 5

Repeat steps 2-4 until you have 1 stitch less than required and transfer the loop from the hook to your knitting needle (last stitch).
